About GCFV: The Georgia Commission on Family Violence is a state agency that was created by the Georgia General Assembly in 1992 to develop a comprehensive state plan for ending family violence in Georgia. GCFV works throughout the state to help create and support task forces made up of citizen volunteers working to end domestic violence in their communities. In addition, GCFV conducts research and provides training about domestic violence, monitors legislation and other policy impacting victims of domestic
violence, certifies all of Georgia's Family Violence Intervention Programs, and
co-coordinates the statewide Domestic Violence Fatality Review Project.

You are never going to even come close to fixing "the problem" by continually criminalizing males and good fathers; your statistical suggestion that women are primarily the only victims in need of more organized public help & support only compounds and perpetuates further domestic violence and abuse insofar as it's a well known fact that males, almost by definition, DO NOT REPORT due to longstanding prejudices and discrimination that many have now learned to use solely for their own advantage.
You are promoting a MYTH on which a massively unfair and corrupt "domestic violence industry" subsists and this country will be able to soon ill afford!
I am in process of filing a divorce appeal and lawsuit against Coweta County Georgia and will keep you apprised of progress -

The Eighth Annual Battered Mothers Custody Conference was held over the weekend in Albany, New York. Several misguided domestic violence advocacy groups, including the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence and the National Network Against Domestic Violence, co-sponsored the conference. Sadly, this is a prime example of a serious problem afflicting most domestic violence organizations, one which tarnishes the often noble work they do—their consistent failure to recognize and acknowledge false abuse accusations.

The only reason many men stay in unhappy relationships with abusive women is out of love and concern for their children. I’ve lost count of how many of my coaching clients have said, “If it weren’t for the kids, I’d have left a long time ago.“ Some men stay because they believe they’re protecting their children from abuse or acting as an “abuse buffer.” Some men stay to be certain that at least one parent is giving care and attention to the kids. Some men stay to give the kids at least one good adult role model. Some men justify staying by telling themselves, “She’s not abusing the kid(s), just me and I can take it.”

WASHINGTON, Jan. 18, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The majority of domestic violence education programs supported by the federal government do not provide a truthful depiction of the problem of partner abuse, according to a report released today. The document, "Most DV Educational Programs Lack Accuracy, Balance, and Truthfulness" concludes that nine out of 10 training, education, and public awareness programs fail to meet minimum standards of objectivity.
The report is issued by Stop Abusive and Violent Environments (SAVE), a victim advocacy group working for evidence-based solutions to domestic violence . . . The SAVE report highlights a Centers for Disease Control survey that shows teenage girls are more likely than boys to be perpetrators of dating violence. But the Department of Justice inexplicably uses the CDC survey to justify the need to "engage men and youth in preventing crimes of violence against women," according to the DoJ website.
More worrisome are training programs for judges that downplay the existence of female aggression and short-circuit legal protections. At one New Jersey seminar, judges were instructed, "Your job is not to become concerned about all the constitutional rights of the man that you're violating as you grant a restraining order."

JOB ANNOUNCEMENT Policy Analyst Annual Salary: $40,000.00 Recruitment Period: Submit resume by October 25, 2011 Job Description: The Policy Analyst is a professional level position that reports to the Executive Director and will provide, under limited supervision, policy and legislative research, analysis, and evaluation services to the Georgia Commission on Family Violence in support of their statutory duties. The Policy Analyst also assists the Executive Director in other tasks as requested Responsibilities and Performance Standards:
Performs job responsibilities with minimal supervision
Conducts policy and legal analysis and research in support of the Commission’s legislative and policy priorities
Prepares legislative and policy reports for use by Commission members and the Executive Director at the Legislature and other forums
Researches national best practices on family violence topics, synthesizes information, and makes recommendations as requested
Participates collaboratively with Commission members and staff, other AOC departments, governmental entities, and/or community-based partners in developing joint policy or position statements. May be asked to facilitate collaborative discussions and processes when required
Assists in drafting the Commission’s Annual Report
Assist with collection, measurement and analysis of process and outcome data related to the Commission’s legislative and policy priorities
Performs presentations and public speaking as required
Participates in conferences, instructive seminars, presentations and speeches for the judiciary, the community, civic organizations, and the general public
Provide ongoing technical assistance and support to internal staff Minimum Qualification and Training Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts, Public Policy, Women’s Studies or closely related field
1 year of work experience with family violence issues
1 year of work experience in legal and/or policy analysis and research
Strong writing, legal/policy analysis, public speaking, collaboration, community organizing/advocacy, and data analysis skills
Some statewide travel required
Some national travel required. Preferred Qualification:
Post Baccalaureate degree in Public Administration/Public Policy, Women’s Studies, Law or closely related field.
